Waterproof Digital Cameras

A waterproof digital camera is a great item to have if you love to take pictures and spend significant time outdoors in the elements (or like to take pictures in the shower, but that's a whole other website).

There is a waterproof digital camera on the market for nearly every purpose, whether you want to take pictures on your camping/fishing trip or at the local wet T-shirt contest (again, that's another website).

Depending on the specifics of the digital waterproof camera that you choose you can expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $600. A waterproof digital camera will take pictures as well as a standard camera, but it won't require you to store it in a plastic bag or waterproof box when you go whitewater rafting. It is also able to take pictures in the rain.

Most waterproof digital cameras are fairly sturdy and can take a good amount of abuse without significant damage. Dropping it out of your pocket may not harm it, but hitting it with a sledgehammer will. I strongly discourage hitting any digital camera with a sledgehammer, whether it is waterproof of not. Most digital cameras will break under such conditions. If you find one that won't, please let me know. I will likely buy it. I'm clumsy and tend to do stupid things that causes my high priced electronics to break.

Do you own a digital waterproof camera? If so, I'd like to know what kind you have, how much you paid for it and how you like your waterproof digital camera.
